I know I’ve kind of been missing in action, but for some reason, it was way more fun thinking about names before I actually got pregnant. I’ve needed a name vacation. But I’m back, and think I’m raring to go.
First off, here is our first picture of the baby…our next one will be in a July 28th, when we find out the sex!

Our baby at 9 weeks, 1 day
As soon as I told my mom that Fable was a choice for a girl, she ran with it. She at first just fueled the excitement over it, but soon, her love for it started to wear on me. I still really love it, but…it doesn’t feel like the one. But she has her heart set on it. So if it’s a girl, we’ll either go with Fable, or break her heart…any advice?
Lets for now just say Fable isn’t set in stone. Whoo, all of a sudden I feel lighter. Like the pressure of pleasing my mother is off. Right now…believe or not, I feel like Lucy is the one. Crazy?
Here is probably my list:
- Lucy-loving this, and right now it feels like the one…only problem is that it is Erik’s grandmother’s dog’s name…so everytime we go see Erik’s mother/grandparents(they live together) there would be Lucy the beagle, and Lucy the baby…
- Beatrix-Erik’s favorite probably. What he originally wanted until I convinced him of Fable. I love it, but it doesn’t quite feel right…
- Fable-love it, but it doesn’t quite feel right…
- Rosemary-probably off the actual table, as Erik dislikes it…
- Nola-This is probably not as a strong as a contender as the others…but Erik really likes it
- Annora-I love this name, might prefer it in the middle though, but it’s so gorgeous
Then again, maybe I’ll get to avoid all this stress, because I might have boy…
If that happens, we had tentively set ourselves for my beloved Wynn…but it doesn’t feel right anymore. The only name that really feels right to me is Malcolm. Right now, I’ve fallen into a habit of accidently referring the baby as Malcolm when we’re talking about having a boy. So it just feels like the one.
Our list though, is probably:
- Malcolm-my top contender right now, Erik loves it too
- Wynn-our old top contender. I love it to death, Erik does too, but it doesn’t quite connect to this baby right now
- August-another name we both love
- Alasdair-a name I love, Erik does too, though he slightly prefers Alastair
- Perrin-For the nickname Perry. Once a strong contender, now slowly fading
- Oskar-I really do love this, and Erik does too, doesn’t feel as strong a contender, but I love the Oscar the grouch association. Oh, also my 17 year old, not pregnant sister, has declared her undying love for this name, and it completely set on using for her future son. So maybe I’ll keep this one on ice, at least until her next boyfriend and her newest name obsession!
- Hugh-love it, but Erik won’t agree to it, it’s his uncle’s name
- Linus-love it, Erik does too, my mother does too…something in me doesn’t want to count this little gem out completely.
- Elliot-just love it, a lurker name, never in the tops, but always flittering around. Erik loves it too. Really starting loving it after watching Oprah and learning about this Eliot…
So what do you think? Right now if I had a baby this very second, I’d call it Malcolm Alexander Clint McCall and Lucy (either Lucy Valentina Virginia, or maybe as a consolation to my mother…Lucy Fable Virginia?)
Thanks for reading, and for tolerating my long absence. I think I’m out of my name funk, so I should be a more constant blogger!

Got great news!!!♥♥♥

Yay!♥
In honor of the positive, I’ll go through my favorites I’ve been working on.
For a boy, it’s between Wynn(of course), an August name (for Gus), a Perry name (Percival and Perrin are in the lead), and Malcolm. Maybe Søren or Cosmo. We also like Alasdair, Darcy, Oskar, Elliot, and Linus. Most likely a boy will be named Wynn Alexander Clint. (It’s like 75% likely).
A girl however we have two combos we really love, and couldn’t choose between. We’ll just have to wait and see what she would look like I guess. They are Beatrix Annora Maud and Fable Cornelia Bluebird. Though the Fable combo could change. Here is my poll on Fable combos: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9383878
Other girl names we like are: Rosemary (I love, he doesn’t), Petronel, Pomeline, Pandora, Pippa, Esmée, Nola, and Cecily (I like, he doesn’t), and Domino.
Some random combos I made while playing with names:
Rosemary Helen Valentine
Petronel Elva Primrose
Pippa Virginia Jean
Domino Luella Elspeth
Pandora Helen November
Cecily Elora Jane
Pomeline Iris Roux
Esmée Mathilda Ruby
Well I’ll go talk to everyone later! ♥

I’m feeling rather scatter brained right now, so I’m just going to jot this down and go to sleep. I think I’m hitting a naming block, I can’t seem to think about names as much as usual, I think I’m too tired. I’ve been so super busy working and trying to keep the house clean. I’ve had live-in visitors for like a week solid…grr. Also on the naming front, my cousin is pretty sure that she is naming her baby Charlotte if it’s a girl. No where near my favorite, but still…I’d MUCH rather this than her other names she was thinking about (Caydence, Brookelynn, or Bella…yeah much better.) She is thinking maybe Charlotte Madeleine Marie…not too bad considering I dislike Charlotte.
What do you think of these names?
Boys:
*Zimra- I’ve heard it’s a girls name, but I’ve only known one Zimra, a cute boy. It reminds me of Ezra, but I really like Zim!
*Stellan- I’ve always been fond of Stella for a girl, but I love the feel of Stellan. It feels so well…stellar! It reminds me of Kellen, but has these lovely Swedish overtones that remind me of constellations, star-gazing and lilies…for some odd reason…very calming to me.
Girls:
Ursuline-I love Ursula, but I rediscovered this gem. I find it less controversial than the sea-witch on the Little Mermaid. I don’t mind the association, but other people do…
Pandora-Erik surprised me tonight with this name. I always liked it (especially Lola’s Pandora Cecily Jane!), but he told me he really loved it. He loves the idea of calling a little girl Panda (he loves pandas). I’m quite smitten actually. It seems like a name that would mesh well with my favorites. Cute.
Annora-I love this. Honora is one of my favorites, but I actually prefer this, and the Anne part would honor my grandmother. I really love Nora.
Academia-always a guilty pleasure of mine, but recently just starting to super attracted to it. How about Demi as a nickname? Maybe as a middle name only?
Cornelia-Cordelia has always been higher on my list than this because I couldn’t get past Corny. Now I’m really liking Corn over Cord! I read a book yesterday with the main character named Cornelia who went by Connie. I adore Connie, but something about Constance has always made pause. Cornelia nickname Connie?
Joya-Ok technically this is a yuneek spelling, but I really like it. I read a book a few years ago with the main character named Joya. She was awesome, I love Joy, and I think this name is sweet. I’ve found that most people on the name boards prefer Gioia, but I’ve found most people in real life can’t spell Gioia, or don’t pronounce it right.
Eulalie-Wouldn’t this be sweet with the nickname Lolly (lolly-pop?! cute!)? I think it’s incredibly cute and sweet, maybe too cute though…
Nola-This is one of Erik’s top names…He loves it because it is the abbreviation for his beloved hometown (New Orleans, Louisiana). Can’t find a full name that I like better than just the simple Nola.
Anyway, back to Domino…Would Domina make it better? Less cutesy. Than we could use Domino as a nickname (along with me sneakily being able to use Mina!)…hmm?
Thanks again guys!

It’s hard to do, if I have to let Erik have a say!
Here are some preliminary ideas:
Beatrix Tara Rosemary, Petronel Leona Jean, Domino Valentine Elizabeth
Beatrix Elizabeth Jean, Petronel Leona Valentine, and Rosemary Tara Domino
Erik wants Domino as a first, I want Rosemary…middle names are family names. Valentine/Valentina for my mother, Leona for my grandmother, Elizabeth and Jean for my grandmother-in-law. Other honoring names I could use, Virginia for my mother-in-law, Catharine for my favorite aunt, Anne for my grandmother Leona, Delfina for my other grandmother, Elva for the same grandmother-in-law that Elizabeth and Jean honor (Yeah she’s that cool), and Abigail/Gail for another grandmother of mine named Gail. (Also Erik said he loves Nola now…it means New Orleans Louisiana, his beloved hometown)
Also here are some random combos I got him to say weren’t terrible, anything stand out to you? Any flipping or switching? (some of these are guilty pleasure names…)
Mary Inez
Tullia Anne
Opal Delfina
Ottilie Esmé
Wilhelmina November
Sunny Louisa
Sunny Marigold
Adah Rosalie
Inez Edmé (Any better mn suggestions for Inez (EYE-nez)?
Frances Daffodil
Susannah Marigold
Willa Esmé
Bonnie Susannah
Maud Eliza
Beatrix Nola
Henrietta Ruby
And for giggles, here are some random boy combos I made, though our boy names are pretty set in stone…(Our top three are probably Wynn Alexander Clint, Cosmo Eugene Thomas, and Augustin/Percival Victor Malcolm.) Alexander is for Erik and his father, grandfather, etc. Clint is for my deceased brother, Eugene is my grandfather’s and Erik’s grandfather’s middle name, Thomas and Victor is for my deceased father.
These combos are not nearly as exciting to me as the girl ones…maybe because I used a couple guilty pleasures for those!
Malcolm Ivan
Percival Linus
Thomas Augustin
Oskar Darcy
Oliver Ezra
William Nigel
Simon Laurence
Augustin Richard
Ivan Edmund
Blair Richard
Felix Darcy
Darcy Edward
Simon Magnus
Wynn Edward
Blair Simon
Magnus Elliot
Blair Nigel
Barney Thomas
Hamish Ragnar
So what do you think? Any great/horrible ones? Thanks for stopping by!
